What is a Nurse Coach?
A Nurse Coach is a Registered Nurse (RN) who is trained in the art of the Health Coach process. Combining these two professions is powerful in transforming a person's health.
As a Coach, I create a container of safety where my clients will be met without judgement or criticism, knowing that what is discussed will be kept confidential. After meeting and understanding where we are in the moment, we, with the client in control, explore the client’s goals and dreams for their personal best health and wellness, and most importantly, what obstacles are keeping the client from reaching the fulfillment of those goals. The client is considered the expert and I, as the Nurse Coach, am the facilitator to help find the pathway to reach clarity and vibrant health. Deep listening, intuitive questioning, and genuine encouragement are some of the main tools I use in coaching.
As a nurse I bring added depth and clarity to the client’s ability to create informed decisions about their health. The nursing knowledge that I have, whether clinical knowledge or understanding of the human body and how it works, is a powerful addition.
Coaching works most profoundly when the client and the coach commit to playing full out, being vulnerable, willing for whatever it takes to reach the desired goals.
The true secret of coaching and the powerful transformation that occurs is the result of the grace of God. Truly, He is the Healer, and I am but a tool in His hand.Looking up!
